The Soviets launched several attacks against Axis lines in Northern Romania, targeting German troops in an effort to embarrass them in front of their Romanian allies; and by the end of April, the German High Command was convinced that a massive Soviet offensive was about to begin. On May 2nd, German infantry holding the city of Targul Frumas faced an enormous tank attack, and found themselves up against the new Josef Stalin tank. Units from the Grossdeutschland were ordered into the battle.
Objectives: Your company will intercept and destroy the armored spearhead to the north of your position. Your platoon will form the left flank of the company battleline, and will move north, just west of the built up area. Support will be provided by Panzerjager on each flank. The IS-2 is a formidable opponent. Except for a shot into the rear of the vehicle, you will be unable to penetrate its armor at ranges over 500 meters with the Tiger, and 750 meters with the Panther; at the ranges indicated a side shot will penetrate. Air support has been promised, and will be needed.
